Biography: Dr Clancy a native of Trim, Co. Meath moved to Westport in July 2011 and established Clancy Medical Practice in Westport in September 2013. He practices with his wife Sarah Kavanagh, a physiotherapist A former student of St Michaels Diocesan School in Trim, Ronan went on to study medicine at University College Dublin and met his wife Sarah during that time. He graduated with an honours Degree in medicine in 2004. After graduation he carried out his internship in St Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin and St Columcilles hospital, Loughlinstown, Co. Dublin. Following this Ronan travelled to Sydney Australia where he worked for one year in The Royal Prince Alfred and Sydney eye hospital gathering experience. He also travelled extensively in south East Asia spending several months as a volunteer surgeon in remote regions of Nepal with the renowned children’s charities Smile Train and Interplast. Ronan returned to Ireland in 2007 to commence four years of vocational General Practice training on the Royal College of Surgeons and Northeast GP training programme. During this time he also obtained higher diplomas in Children’s health, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Minor Surgery.Ronan successfully completed his membership examinations in 2011, and was conferred Membership of The Irish College of General Practitioners. Ronan’s special interests include Dermatology / Dermatoscopy and Minor surgery. Other areas of interest include men’s health and the promotion of positive lifestyle change. Outside of medicine, Ronan’s interests include water sports, outdoor endurance activities and formerly, rugby, playing for many years with Navan RFC and UCD. He believes that a healthy work life and exercise balance is a corner stone for good general and psychological health.

Biography: Sarah graduated from University College Dublin with an honours degree in Physiotherapy in 2004. She completed a Masters degree in Manual Therapy in the University of Western Australia, Perth. After graduation, Sarah initially worked in Our Ladies Hospital for Sick Children Crumlin in the area of Burns and Plastics, Oncology and Orthopaedic Physiotherapy. In 2005 she travelled to Sydney, Australia, where she commenced work in St.Vincents Hospital in the area of Orthopaedics providing rehabilitation to patients who had undergone surgery or following fractures, amputation, soft tissue injuries and trauma. Following her time in Australia Sarah spent several months travelling in Asia, New Zealand and India before volunteering as a physiotherapist in Nepal for several months with the international charity organisation, 'Interplast'. On return to Ireland in 2007 Sarah commenced working in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, Dublin firstly as a junior physiotherapist broadening and consolidating her experience in the areas of Neurology, Respiratory/Intensive care and orthopaedic physiotherapy. In 2008 she took up position as Senior Physiotherapist in the area of Musculoskeletal Oupatients, were she remained until returning to the west in August 2011. In 2011 Sarah completed Matwork Level 1 and Level 2 under the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI). Continuing professional education is important to Sarah in order to keep up to date with the current best practice in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, she attends conferences and courses regularly, in addition to keeping up to date with the evidence base.
