Biography: He graduated from the Gazi University Faculty of Dentistry in 1996 and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery PhD program in 2002. He has received the title of Associate Professor in 2006 and Professor in 2011. Dr. Polat has been a member of the Turkish Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, European Association for Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Surgery and International Association for Dental Research. He has over 21 years of clinical experience. He has completed a comprehensive surgical training program featuring Sulzer Calcitek’s Spline Dental Implant System in 1997. He has been practicing implant surgery since 1997.  Prof. Dr. Serkan Polat has completed training and calibration course in English in the clinical and research use of the Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (DC/TMD; Schiffman et al. 2014. The course took place April 20-22, 2015, in Malmö, Sweden.  He is the head of the team that prepares the Turkish version of Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (2014) published by INfORM (International Network for Orofacial Pain and Related Disorders Methodology).  Between 2012 and 2016, he was the chairman of “Education and Research Committee” of the Council of Dentists Deans. He was the head of the team that prepares “Undergraduate Dental Education National Core Curriculum – 2016” (DUCEP-2016), “Minimum Criteria for student admission to Dental Schools in Turkey” and “Improvement of Academic Environment in Turkey”. Professor Dr. Serkan Polat currently works as a member of the same committee representing the oral and maxillofacial surgeons.  He has served as a reviewer in many national/international scientific journals.  There are about 40 scientific papers, 15 of them published in very qualified scientific international journals indexed at the Science Citation Index and over 30 oral/poster presentations in national/international scientific meetings.  He is a member of the journal’s editorial boards and an author of the book section. He gave conferences as an invited speaker at national and international scientific meetings.  Professional interests are Implantology (sinus lifting, block graft applications, piezosurgery, All on Four), temporomandibular joint disorders and other oral surgical procedures.

Biography: In 1996, she graduated from Gazi University Faculty of Dentistry with the second-ranked degree. In 2002, she graduated from Prosthetic Dentistry PhD program. She received the title of Associate Professor in 2007 and Professor in 2013. Prof. Dr. Nilüfer Tülin Polat is a member of the Turkish Prosthodontics and Implantology Association and has over 21 years of clinical experience. She has over 40 scientific papers, 15 of them published in very qualified scientific international journals indexed at the Science Citation Index and over 50 oral/poster presentations in national/international scientific meetings.  She has been a member of the journal’s editorial boards and an author of the book section. Prof. Dr. Nilüfer Tülin Polat and her team won the first prize in the FDI 2013 World Dentistry Congress with their scientific work.  She gave conferences as an invited speaker at national scientific meetings.  Professional interests are CAD/CAM dentistry, porcelain laminate veneers and restorative dentistry.
