Dr Caitriona Begley

Biography: Dr Begley or Caitriona as she likes her patients to call her qualified in 1998 with honours from Trinity College Dublin. Caitriona has always believed that a cornerstone to dental practice must be continuing education and so obtained her Dip Clin Dent in 2008. She has also spent a year travelling to and from the UK (Eastman Centre of Dental Excellence) doing a further study in endodontics and more recently spent a year doing a part time implant course wIth Professor David Harris the Blackrock Clinic.She is currently very interested in the restoration of the worn dentition as this is field rapidly expanding due to overexposure to acids and wear due to grinding . Both common complaints in todays life styles. The restoration of worn teeth can be a complex journey .Caitriona has returned to part study to obtain a diploma in sedation . She is aware that there is a cohort of patients for whom dentistry is a frightening experience. With this further qualification she will be able to provide either inhalation sedation or intravenous sedation to these patients- making the dental experience a pleasant memory.
Dr Paul Burgess

Biography: Dr Paul Burgess joined Avondale Dental Clinic in 2013 as our resident periodontist. Paul qualified as a dentist in 1988 from the University of Newcastle and practiced general dentistry in the Newcastle area for ten years. During this time he obtained a Diploma in Postgraduate Dentistry from Bristol University (1998) and did year long part-time courses in Restorative Dentistry and then Implant Dentistry at The Eastman Dental Institute in London.Having decided to specialise, he undertook the 3 year specialist training course in Periodontics at the Eastman Dental Institute in London, gaining a M.Sc (Perio) with distinction in 2008, and the following year a M.Clin.Dent. (Perio) from the Univeristy of London. Having completed the MFDS at the Royal College of Surgeons (2001) and the MRD (Perio) at the Royal College of Surgeons (2003), he was appointed on to the Specialist Register in Periodontics of the GDC.He moved to Ireland in 2004 where he worked with Professor Linden in the Periodontal Department at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast and Professor Claffey in the Dublin Dental Hospital. He has continued to develop and extend his skill set with Dr Danie Buser at the University of Berne.Paul can offer a full range of periodontal treatments including all aspects of implant dentistry.
Dr Peter Mc Donnell

Biography: Dr Peter Mc Donnell qualified from Trinity College Dublin in 2013. Peter was a mature student who qualified as veterinary surgeon in 2002 from University College Dublin .Dentistry was his true calling . He has keen interest in both endodontics and implant dentistry and has already gone overseas to the Eastman College of Dentistry in London to gain further insight into these areas of dentistry. Peter has an excellent ability to restore teeth with composite/ tooth colored material and so there is no need for unsightly metal amalgam fillings.
Mrs Rachel Connolly

Biography: Rachel joined the practice when it was founded and has come to enjoy the varied aspects of the job. She qualified as a registered dental nurse in 2009 after two years study. She currently is our practice manager / patient coordinator. Rachel's experience in dental assisting and in administration ensures she runs the practice smoothly and efficiently.
Mr Stephen Bradshaw

Biography: Mr. Stephen Bradshaw joined Avondale in 2011. Stephen has a Diploma in Dental Nursing and his main field of interest is assisiting Dr Burgess in surgery. Stephen also has great knowledge and experience in the more technical end of dental assisting and is a valued member of the team.He plans to develope his career with further study in the field of radiography.
