Biography: Dr. M A Hussain is a highly respected and regarded cosmetic surgeon practicing in Brisbane, Sydney and Canberra. His considerable experience of 15 years of surgical practice has predominantly focused on Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery in both the UK and Australia. Dr. M A Hussain’s considerable experience in Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery gives him excellent clinical judgment and the confidence to perform a wide range of complex surgical procedures. He values communicating clearly with patients, spending the time to understand their desires and concerns and ensuring clarity regarding expected outcomes from procedures. He also provides and oversees excellent post-operative care, subsequent follow-up and rehabilitation. Dr Hussain combines a commitment to continual improvement of his craft and an insatiable thirst for knowledge. Apart from his clinical commitments, he is involved in academic activities as well. Dr Hussain has 22 publications in peer-reviewed journals, including plastic surgery journals. He has special interests in breast aesthetics and one of his major contributions in this field is an oral presentation at the 5th Asian Symposium of Breast Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in Singapore. Dr. Hussain is well respected for his research and has written several journal articles as well as presenting at conferences around the world. Dr Hussain has 41 poster presentations, which were presented in multiple national and international meetings, including Annual meetings of the Royal College of Surgeons of Australia in Malaysia, New Zealand and Singapore. His work has also been presented at the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Annual meetings in UK and Ireland. Dr. Hussain has been involved in the training of cosmetic surgery by the well know UK Plastic and Cosmetic surgeon – Dr. Sultan Hassan – Director of Elite Surgical, UK. Dr. Hussain apart from his clinical activities, has been involved in educational and teaching activities and participated in the teaching of medical students of the Australian National University. Dr. Hussain has participated as a course instructor for the plastic surgery skills course under the University of Auckland, NZ and is part of the teaching faculty in the ‘minor surgery skills’ course in primary health care in the NHS, UK. Dr Hussain had the honour to have an exclusive interview published in the ‘100 stories for 100 years’: Canberra Centenary book, 1913 – 2013, Australia. Dr. Hussain has been interviewed three times by The Canberra Times (Newspaper), for his dedicated work in the field of plastic, reconstructive and hand surgery and on two occasions by the Australian Doctor Journal.
