Biography: Dr Wong has been a significant contributor of his skill and expertise to his patients and the orthodontic community for over 30 years – fuelled by genuine care for his patients, the gratification of his profession and his dedication to the science of orthodontics. 1981 Began working and teaching in orthodontics at the Perth Dental Hospital. Continued clinical teaching of undergraduate orthodontic students for 2 decades. 1983 Started first of two busy private orthodontic practices in Perth. 1986 Began treatment with Lingual Braces. 1995-2001 Held seminars teaching Therapists how to recognize potential orthodontic problems and when to refer children for early treatment. Taught and oversaw studies of two dental technicians in his in-house orthodontic laboratory. Created some oh is own appliances to better serve his early-treatment patients. 1998 First orthodontist certified by the Australian Orthodontic Board in WA. 2008 Opened first of two private practices on the Gold Coast (South Tweed Heads) with a mission to make lingual braces affordable for anyone able to have traditional braces. 2010 Opened second practice in Robina Rocket Building to better serve patients from northern Gold Coast and Brisbane. 2011 Started sharing his experience and expertise with other lingual orthodontists and those interested in learning more, speaking at conferences for the Australasian Society of Lingual Orthodontists. 2011 Started pro bono seminars to teach lingual techniques to graduate orthodontic students at UWA in Perth and Griffiths University on the Gold Coast. 2013 Joined SureSmile (robotic/digital science for orthodontics cutting down as much as 1/3 of treatment time and improving on finishes) as one of the first orthodontists in Australia to offer it for lingual patients. Continues to enjoy: treating patients of all ages; implementing innovative technology for the most efficient and beautiful results he can offer; attending and speaking at international conferences for dedicated and innovative orthodontics.
