About King Park Sports Medicine Centre - King Park
A wide choice of alternative health services are provided at this clinic located at Umegeni Road in Durban, South Africa. All therapists are experts in their field and have wide experience in treating patients. Services are non-invasive with no side effects and the goal of the team is to help patients recover and resume their normal function quickly using safe and effective remedies and prevent the injury or condition from recurring. Services provided by the team include osteopathy, homeopathy, exercise therapy, chiropody and podiatry, counselling and psychotherapy, therapeutic massages, sport massages, Hopi ear candling and Pilates.

Mr Clinton Grobbelaar

Biography: Clinton qualified as a physiotherapist in Durban in 1989 and went on to do his Sports Medicine Honours Degree full time in 1991 with Prof. Tim Noakes in Cape Town, following his 1 year military service in 1990. During his 1990 year he was the sharks team physiotherapist. He then travelled to the UK, USA, Australia and New Zealand for 4 and a half years working at sport medicine clinics in each country. On his return to South Africa, Clinton set up a Multidisciplinary Sport Clinic in Durban 17 years ago, which services many elite and recreational sports people. Over their 17 years of practice they have looked after many sporting codes: Sharks Rugby, Premier Soccer sides, KZN and international athletes, hockey, swimming, cyclists, cricket teams. Clinton is a passionate individual who has rehabilitated many athletes and enhanced performance in these individuals and many sporting teams. He plays an integral part in Kings Park Sport Medicine Centre multidisciplinary approach to treatment and rehab.

Ms Michelle Saunders

Biography: Michelle graduated from the University of the CapeTown, South Africa in 2002. After a year spent in a rural KwaZulu Natal hospital completing her community service, she returned to Durban where she started work at Kings Park Sports Medicine Centre. Here she treats a variety of neuromusculoskeletal injuries, on a general outpatients basis, as well as amateur and elite sportspeople. She has worked as a physiotherapist for the DHSOB rugby club, as well as for the KZN women’s rugby side. In 2007 Michelle developed an interest in Pilates, and is now also a qualified Pilates instructor. She is currently completing a postgraduate course in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy. Michelle enjoys an active lifestyle, which includes paddling, surfing and Pilates. She runs pilates classes in the centre.

Mr Brett Edwards

Biography: Brett qualified in 2008 from the University of the Western Cape in Cape Town, after which he completed his community service at a rural KZN hospital in 2009. He was fortunate enough to find a job working for Vibhav Singh Physiotherapy, and therefor joined the Kings Park family. His eagerness to work hard as well as learn from those around him are two qualities that he hopes will improve his skill as a physiotherapist. Brett is currently attending to the wide range of conditions seen at Kings Park, as well as looking after the Golden Arrows junior soccer teams. He has also completed all three of the Kinesio Tape Courses, and is on his way to completing the pilates courses.

Mr Kyle Dougherty

Biography: Kyle qualified as a physiotherapist in 2008 from the university of the Free State. He completed his community service at a government hospital in the south of Durban. As a student Kyle worked with the UFS U/19 rugby team(Shimlas) and after moving to Durban in 2009 became the physiotherapist for Old Boys Rugby Club. He completed as team physiotherapist for Thanda Royal Zulu FC. He has an interest in Cycling and has travelled with teams to the Cape Epic. He looks after the GOLDEN ARROWS PSL SOCCER SIDE and has done so for the past 2 years. Kyle has played squash at provincial level for 8 years and now enjoys competing in mountain bike events.
