Biography: Op. Dr. Ertugrul Gonul is a consultant general & gastrointestinal surgeon specialising in laparoscopic (keyhole) and open surgery for bariatric procedures. Dr. Ertugrul Gonul qualified as a doctor from Istanbul University Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine in 1985, and then completed his basic surgical training at İstanbul Göztepe Education and Research Hospital in 1992. He completed specialist training in gastrointestinal surgery in the İstanbul Göztepe Education and Research Hospital and gained the FRCS degree in 1996. He has completed a senior post-CCT fellowship in İstanbul Göztepe Education and Research Hospital, which gave him expert training in bariatric surgeries. He is a pioneer in the bariatric surgery field and has been actively practising bariatric surgery for over 25 years.He is the chief surgeon at Opera Yasam Hospital, a boutique and highly equipped hospital, and an examiner for the Turkish General Medical Council. He also actively trains young surgeons in laparoscopic keyhole surgery, as well as teaches medical students in Antalya.
