Leyland Physiotherapy Centre offers a friendly and professional service to its patients. The clinic has seven highly qualified and experienced physiotherapists. The facility is registered with all major insurance companies. The facility has three fully equipped treatment rooms and a pilates and exercise studio. Conditions treated here include back and neck problems, nerve injuries, whiplash, sports injuries, joint pain, muscle injuries, repetitive strain injuries, tennis and golfers elbow, stroke rehabilitation, spinal injury. All musculoskeletal conditions, neurological conditions and post operative care are treated in this clinic.

Leyland Physiotherapy has now invested in a shockwave machine.Shockwave delivers high intensity sound waves into chronic tissue. This leads to a cascade of beneficial effects including increased blood flow, cellular activity, stimulation of collagen, dissolution of calcium and pain relief.NICE 2009 have recommended shockwave therapy as a treatment approach certainly for Tennis elbow, Plantar Fasciitis and Achilles, it is thought that it might stimulate healing of tendons. Biography: Lynn qualified in 1980. She worked at Wrightington Hospital and the Robert Jones Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry, before joining the Leyland Physiotherapy with Jenny Wood in 1984.Since then she has also gained valuable experience working at Preston North End Football club and was responsible for establishing physiotherapy services at Fulwood Hall Hospital.She has continued to work as a partner of Leyland Physiotherapy, developing close contact with, and respect from, local GPs and Consultants. She has also continued to build on the insurance company recognition Jenny had worked so hard to establish.

Mrs Michelle Kinney

Biography: Michelle qualified in 1990 from Withington School of Physiotherapy. She was lucky enough to be mentored by Mr Dennis Wright who was a highly respected District Physiotherapist at Rochdale. It was under his charge that she learnt the crucial ‘hands-on’ approach to physiotherapy.Over the years, she has gained valuable experience in the sporting arena through work with rugby tournaments, Liverpool Ladies hockey club and the Under 16s English Ladies Golfers.In 1994, Michelle had the opportunity to work in Wrightington Orthopaedic and Rheumatology Hospital, a world renowned Centre of Excellence. She gained further valuable experience in all aspects of musculo-skeletal injury and treatments.Since joining Lynn and Jenny at Leyland Physiotherapy in 1997, Michelle has actively embraced change and helped to develop the business further by implementing a computerised administration system, as well as therapist mentoring in order to enhance our customer care.

Biography: Sam qualified as a physiotherapist with a First Class Honours in 2003 and joined Leyland Physiotherapy Centre in 2006. Sam has 9 years musculo-skeletal experience and has developed a special interest in post-operative rehabilitation of the shoulder and knee along with a strong background in spinal rehabilitation including core stability and pilates.At a post-graduate level, Sam has a diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine and is also a practising injection therapist, as a member of the specialist interest group ACPOMIT (Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Orthopaedic Medicine and Injection Therapy).

Mrs Mary Griffiths

Biography: Mary graduated as a Chartered Physiotherapist from the Oswestry and North Staffordshire School of Physiotherapy in 1976. Following this she worked in specialist NHS units for 7 years, gaining a broad base of experience in orthopaedics, ICU, neurology and musculo-skeletal care.Mary then underwent management training and gained a promotion to Superintendent Physiotherapist at Wrightington Hospital NHS Trust.In 1982, Mary moved into the private sector, running her own practice and sports injury clinic. A Diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine was completed which led to clinical lecturing. Extensive post-graduate training in areas such as acupuncture and neurology added to the specialist treatments she provided.Over the past year, Mary has gained valuable experience as an Extended Scope Practitioner working alongside leading Spinal Consultants with Spinecare.After 30 years of clinical practice, Mary finds that every day is still an opportunity to learn more and provide patients with the ultimate level of care.

Mrs Leasa Fish

Biography: Post graduated training in Pilates, managment of Sacro Illiac joint injury and Paediatric care has enabled Leasa to join our team as an exceptional hands on physiotherapist.Leasa joined the team in September 2015. She qualified from The University of Liverpool with BSc Hons in Physiotherapy in 2003. Over the last 3 years Leasa has worked as a clinical specialist in the private sector assessing for and prescribing dynamic movement orthoses for adults and children. Invaluable experience as an advanced practitioner with the NHS until 2012 was gained in treating children and young people with complex disabilities.

Miss Liz Haylock

Biography: Liz has attended numerous post-graduate courses to further her knowledge base in myofascial release and has completed part A of the Orthopaedic Medicine M Level Course. Intense mentoring working with very experienced therapists at Leyland Physiotherapy has enabled Liz to gain a wealth of knowledge to deliver the exemplary standards of care that the practice demands. Most recently experience has been gained in acute illness management, hand splinting and advanced manual techniques.Liz qualified in 2007 and started her career in orthopaedics and musculo-skeletal injury. Working alongside eminent upper limb surgeons, Liz gained valuable experience treating elite athletes and post-operative shoulder rehabilitation.

Biography: At a post-graduate level, Tom has completed training in myofascial release, kinetic control, acupuncture, RFL emergency medical treatment, NSCA strength training and conditioning and BTE/IPRS primus trainingTom graduated from The University of Liverpool with BSc Hons in Physiotherapy in 2003 and joined Leyland Physiotherapy in 2008. He has 12 years experience of musculo-skeletal experience and has developed a special interest in post-operative rehabilitation of the shoulder and knee during his time treating academy Wigan Warriors RLFC between 2006-2010.

Miss Liona Harris

Biography: Having completed a Sports Rehabilitation degree alongside a physiotherapy degree Liona has a broader grounding with her level of experience. Whilst phyisotherapy has exposed Liona to a wider range of pathologies, her Sports Rehabilitation degree has provided invaluble training on the prehab and rehab side of managing athletes/sports injuries. Liona also developed massage techniques through a long placement with Salford City Reds as a masseur which facilitates injury recovery.Liona qualified from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2011 with BSc Hons in Physiotherapy. She also qualified with a BSc Hons in Sports Rehabilitation in 2008. Liona joined the team in 2013 and has gained a wealth of knowledge completing her Acupuncture qualification, APPI Pilates and Post graduate orthopaedic medicine courses.
