Dr Jason K. Rivers

Biography: A former national director of the Canadian Dermatology Association’s Sun Awareness and Skin Cancer Prevention Program, Dr. Rivers continues to serve as Regional Director. These campaigns, which reach millions of Canadians each year through the media and distribution of educational materials, involves working in tandem with groups such as the Canadian Cancer Society and the BC Ministry of Health. Dr. Rivers was one of the principal investigators of the first national study on the sun protection habits of Canadians. He presented a report on the findings to the House of Commons Hearing Committee on the Environment (effects of ozone depletion on human skin) and was involved in a forum to create the UV Index. Dr. Rivers’ experience in aesthetic medicine spans more than 22 years and he has been invited as a key speaker to present on both medical and cosmetic dermatology topics at national and international symposia.

Biography: Board-Certified Dermatologist & Clinical Instructor of Dermatology Dr. Marcie Ulmer is a Dermatologist in Vancouver, BC, with special interests in medical and aesthetic dermatology, including laser-based therapy, dermal fillers, Cosmetic®, injections. With the aim of educating the public on the importance of sun protection and skin cancer prevention, she participates annually in local skin cancer screening events and has given educational lectures on melanoma and non-melanoma cancer. Background Dr. Ulmer is a Clinical Instructor at the Department of Dermatology and Skin Science, University of British Columbia, where she completed her dermatology residency. She is committed to medical dermatology and has been involved in clinical research. A selection of her work has been published in the medical literature and presented at dermatology conferences. The comprehensive range of Dr. Ulmer’s expertise includes medical, procedural and cosmetic dermatology. She is dedicated to working with patients to optimize their skin health through addressing individual skin-related concerns, developing basic skin care regimens, and offering a broad spectrum of advanced options.

Biography: Board-Certified Dermatologist & Clinical Instructor of Dermatology Dr. L. Alexandra Kuritzky is a dermatologist in Vancouver, BC, and a clinical instructor in the Department of Dermatology and Skin Science at the University of British Columbia. She practices medical and cosmetic dermatology at Pacific Dermaesthetics, and is on staff as an attending dermatologist at St. Paul’s Hospital. Dr. Kuritzky is passionate about education, and was the recipient of the 2015 Excellence in Resident Teaching Award from the Canadian Dermatology Association Residents and Fellows Society. Background Dr. Kuritzky completed her medical degree at the University of Toronto, during which time she spent a year in Perth, Australia working at the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research studying the effects of vitamin D on the immune system in the skin. She went on to do her residency in dermatology at the University of Ottawa. After her travels, Dr. Kuritzky returned to her home city of Vancouver to practice dermatology.
