Biography: She has been a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetrics & Gynaecology of London since 1985. She was admitted to the College as a Member in 1975, twelve years after graduating with a MBBS degree from the Medical College, Sri Nagar, Kashmir, India. Born in 1943, she had her early education at Government schools in Perak, Malaysia. Upon graduating, she joined Government service and served in various capacities in Government hospitals in Batu Gajah, Penang and Kuala Lumpur before her appointment as Senior Registrar at the West Middlesex Hospital, London in 1976. On her return to Malaysia, she joined a private medical centre before setting up her own medical practice in 1979. These qualities have helped her tremendously in developing her private practice, the Roopi Medical Centre of which she is the Managing Director, as well as the Roopi Clinic which she set up in 2005.
