Dr Anish Bahra

Biography: Consultant Neurologist. FRCP MD. Clinical interests: Headache, migraine, cluster headache, Trigeminal Autonomic Cephalalgias, Trigemoinal neuralgia, vertigo and general neurology. She qualified from Bristol University in 1990. She undertook her research at the Institute of Neurology, UCL, investigating clinical aspects of cluster headache and, mechanisms in headache at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging. Dr Bahra gained her specialist neurology training in Wellington, New Zealand, St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London Hospitals and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN), London. She has held her consultant post at Whipps Cross Hospital and the NHNN, since 2003. She runs a tertiary headache service at the NHNN, where she runs joint paediatric transition headache clinics linked with Great Ormond Street Hospital and Migraine –Vertigo clinics with the Neuro-otology department at the NHNN. Dr Bahra is also involved in development of the multidisciplinary neurostimulation headache clinics with the Pain Management team at Barts Health. Member of: British Association of the Study of Headache, International Headache Society, Association of British Neurologists, Whipps Cross Hospital Trustee, London Cancer - Brain and Spine Board and Life member OUCH UK ( Organisation for the Understanding of Cluster headache ).

Biography: Consultant Gastroenterologist. MD FRCP. Clinical interests: General gastroenterology, Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy and colonoscopy. She qualified from Nottingham University in 1991 and has been working as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Whipps Cross University Hospital since 2002. Her main specialist areas of interest are in inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome (including a dietary approach), colonoscopy and gastroscopy. She completed her research thesis after a period of work in the laboratory and using clinical trials with Professor David Rampton and qualified MD University of London in 2001. She has a longstanding interest in the education of students and postgraduate doctors. She is an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at Queen Mary & Westfield College University of London. As well as being a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London she is an examiner for the clinical exams for doctors who wish to become members of that college. She is the Chair of the Core Medical Training Committee for NE Thames. This year she was appointed as Director of Medical Education at Whipps Cross University Hospital. She is also one of three authors of a best selling text for medical students called Pass Finals, now in its 3rd edition.
