Dr Michael Lewis

Biography: Michael Lewis studied medicine at St Thomas’ Hospital Medical School and graduated in 1988. He did his initial surgical training in London and Nottingham, registrar training in London, Los Angeles and East Anglia. He was appointed as a consultant surgeon at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital in 1999. He is also an honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of East Anglia and has been clinical director and research lead of the department of surgery since 2008. His clinical specialty is Upper Gastrointestinal and Laparoscopic surgery.

Biography: Edward Cheong BSc (hons), MD, FRCS, trained in Ireland. Post graduate training in Ireland, East Anglia. MD dissertation on oesophageal cancer, UEA. Trained in Minimally Invasive Oesophagectomy in Pittsburg, USA. Appointed Consultant Surgeon at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital in February 2010. MDT lead for Upper GI Cancer. Clinical interests include Radiofrequency ablation for Barretts and Minimally Invasive Oesophagectomy.

Biography: Since 2003, Jane has worked as an upper gastrointestinal cancer nurse specialist at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital Foundation Trust. She is also Affiliate representative on the national AUGIS council. Jane is particularly interested in quality of life issues for people with upper GI cancers and is currently undertaking research into appetite changes post-oesophagectomy. Her qualifications include a Diploma in Higher Education Nursing (RN) from the University of East Anglia, an MSc Advancing Cancer Nursing Practice from Kings College London and a BSc (Hons) Nursing Practice from the University of East Anglia 2000.
